Ok, I failed my February challenge.  To be honest, I’m glad to be done with that.  I was stressing out over something so silly.  I was utterly stumped at the photo challenge for the 24th.  You see, I have no cabinets in my bathroom.  Don’t ask me why.  The house came without and we just got used to it…

Anyway, it’s a new month and  I wanted to share some happenings here at Chez Mango.

Danny’s sister Rose and her daughter Desi were here last weekend.  Desi had a volleyball visit to a college in Lexington KY.  Rose wanted to see us so they flew into Nashville Thursday night and we all drove to Lexington on Friday.  It was snowing there.  Yuck.  The kids had fun.  The hotel had an indoor swimming pool. Their visit was good, but as always, too short….

On our way back from Lexington, we visited the Clarksville crew, Uncle Kris, Aunty Michelle and Stacie!  We hung out for a couple of hours then headed home.

We will see them again at Ty’s graduation.  🙂

Thanksgiving this year was at Mom’s again.  Mom made the turkey and I prepared the sides and meatloaf.  It was all so delicious!  Lloyda, Beto and baby Sofia made it to our feast, as well as Gordon and Leigh-Ellen!  I love Thanksgiving.  We played pool, took pictures, played with the baby, and just enjoyed each others’ company.  Jim had to work at 2:00, so he left at 1:30, Ty and Leigh left at 2:30 for a 3:00 dinner with her family.  The rest of us stayed and just hung out.  Ready for some pics?

On a somber note, Mt. Juliet lost their game Friday night.  😦  It was a packed house and we got there early to save seats and a lot of the family showed up (at least 20!).  It was an emotional night for us (Danny and me).  It was Ty’s last game on that field, and it had to end with a loss.  A bad one.  The final score was 44-10.  Tyler seems okay with it all.  He left it all on the field.  My boy played his heart out.  The announcer must have said his name 15 times.   I REALLY wanted a win for him.  But life goes on.  And we learn valuable lessons from situations like these.  He’s grown up a lot.  I can tell by the way he came off the field and all the things he said after the game.  One big thing that stuck to me was him saying the he felt bad only because he broke his promise to Bubba.  I told him not to feel bad about that.  According to Bubba and me, Ty did fulfull his promise.  He did his best, the rest was out of his control.  He is such a good big brother……

Anyway, on to some pics of the some family in attendance.

The troublemakers: Sulu and Joleen

Eli and Josh. Growing up too fast.

You can see how crowded the place was in those pics.

The rest of the weekend was pretty chill and had NOTHING to do with Black Friday.  Like laundry, movie-watching, cuddling with the kids, knitting, reading, Christmas decorating (yes! I have the tree up!), sleeping, eating, and just hanging out.  My kind of weekend.

How was your Thanksgiving weekend?  I hope you got to do the things you love 🙂

~L

Father’s Day was last weekend.  We spoiled DH with lots of love and spent all day with him.  That weekend was also the Chris Johnson Football Camp.  DH put Gabe and Nate’s name into a raffle at our automotive repair place and Gabe’s name got drawn.  YAY!

So we took him both days, Saturday and Sunday.  He had a blast.

Camp started on Saturday at 9:00 am at BattleGround Academy in Franklin.  They did drills, separated the kids by age into teams, played touch football, took pictures with Chris Johnson, and tons of other activities.  It rained for a bit that day so the kids were taken into the gymnasium for an hour and then outside again when the rain stopped.  It all wrapped up a little after noon, so we went home and watched a movie and napped.  That night DH and I went out on the town.  We went dancing and had a nice little date 🙂

After camp on Sunday, we took DH to Cheddars to eat and hang out. It was a nice day and great weekend.

Other happenings this month:

Went to a funeral.  Charles and Everette Woods’ father passed away and we all went to pay respects.

Bubba and Nate played their last flag football game.

I bought a bathing suit!  The last suit I had was when I was 24.  Yikes!

I lost 20 pounds!  Hence the bathing suit.

We went swimming at the Y.  And I actually got in the pool.  Yes, I did.

June 3rd marked my three year blogiversary!  Happy Anniversary blog!

I hope your June is full of sunshine and joy.

~L

Well, it’s the last day of May folks.  June is here.

It’s been a crazy busy month for us.  We went out of town for two graduations, celebrated Mother’s Day and our 17th wedding anniversary.

Pictures?

Here you go….

image

image

Went out with cousin Elaine and her DH Kevin a couple of times this month.  We had a blast.  Elaine is a dancin fool!

image

image

Mother’s Day was spent with the family.  I went to lunch at Cheddars and watched a movie.  Rio for the kiddos and Water for Elephant for DH and me.

image

image

Lots of family time.  I love it!

image

Ty had 2 scrimmages this month.  One against Centennial HS, we won 28-0.  And the other game was the inner squad game black against gold.  That ended with a tie score.

image

image

image

We drove to South Carolina to be a part of Markita’s graduation.  Of course, we made our usual stop at the welcome center in North Carolina 🙂

image

image

image

Abby’s baby Kingston.  Isn’t he adorable?

image

image

The graduate.

image

We even got to spend some time with Folole, Rick and the kids.  It was also an excellent time to introduce Mem to them since they are probably the only polynesians in that area.

image

image

Our wedding anniversary was last Wednesday, while we were in SC.  We went out with Aunty Mem that night to celebrate.  Good times 🙂  DH had the DJ play our song for the final song of the night “All my Life” by KC and Jojo.  I cried while we danced.  So sweet.

image

image

This past weekend was Stacie’s graduation in Clarksville.  Jay and Dee flew in from Arizona to be here for it too.  It was an awesome time with family.  Tyler’s gf Leigh-ellen also came along.  Everyone got on the dance floor Sunday night at Stacie’s Aiga.  DH had the DJ play our song again and we slowdanced all by ourselves.  😦

I wished the night would never end.

I hope your May was a good one too.

~L

Hi there,

It’s been a month since my last post.  Life here has been difficult, to say the least.  My family and I have been weathering a storm.  We are ok though, no one is sick or dying and the kids are fine.  Someday I may share with you what has been happening, but just know that everything will be ok.

I wanted to come by and share some pictures with you.  April means spring and nice weather, and the birthday of our oldest baby.

Here he is with his cousins.  We visited with them while they were here for youth baseball games.

image

This is Ty with his girlfriend, Leigh-ellen.  They are cute together and she’s been a great companion for him these last couple of months.

image

Happy 17th Birthday my sweet Tyler.  You make us so proud.

image

I have also been hanging out with some friends from work.  THis is Holly, and Alicia.  We went out to celebrate Holly turning the big 3-0.

image

Flag football also started this month.  Here is Ty and Dee.

image

And big Bubba!

image

This is Nate’s second year playing.  DH is coaching his team this year and they are having so much fun.

image

Aren’t my kids awesome?  I think so.

image

Nate had a concert/program at his school last week.  Bubba had practice but the rest of us went and watched Nate sing with his class mates.

image

image

image

image

We’ve been spending alot of time as a family.  Shopping, eating out, going to the gym, and just enjoying each other.

image

I hope your April was full of love and joy.

I’ll try to get back to regular blogging.  I’ve missed it.  I won’t promise anything though.

Let us not love with words or speech but in actions and in truth. – 1 John 3:18

~L

Lai is FIVE!!!!

Happy Birthday, my sweel angel.  You have been such a blessing to us.  Especially me.  I thank God for you everyday.

This is the hat I knitted her last year.  It still fits her.  So adorable.

NACCCHHHHOOOOOOO!

image

We FINALLY found a luchador mask to buy him.  And when he saw it he begged and begged until we gave in.  Bubba got one too.

And here’s Ty with his Laker shirt and matching purple shoes. 🙂

image

Monday, Lai and I went out with these two lovely ladies for a girls’ day out.

image

image

We watched Gnomeo and Juliet.  We loved it.  I highly recommend it.  Here’s the trailer:

The rest of the 3 day weekend was spent shopping and just hanging out.  DH was off both Friday and Saturday so it was awesome being together as a family.

How was your weekend?

~L

This past weekend the kids, hubby and I spent a lot of time together just hanging out.  I loved it.  The kids keep getting older (how dare they!) and we want to savor every second we have with them. Our kids have simple definitions of “fun”.  Thank goodness.  We took them to the park and tried a new (an reasonably priced) restaurant in Mount Juliet called “Cheddars”.  It was pretty good and the kids loved it.

I can’t imagine what life would be like without these kids.  I know there will be a time when they will have families of their own and DH and I will have an empty nest.  So until then, DH and I are making the best of our days off making memories for our kids that will hopefully be repeated with their kids.

Our New Years was packed with activity, fun and lots of love.  As it should be…..

We visited family who we haven’t seen in a while

Bowling with Mom, Jim, and Gords

The kids really enjoyed the bowling.  It was a neat gathering.  You pay $120 per lane and what you get is open bowling in your lane from 9:00 pm – 1:00 am (shoes included for every player), and food (pizza, salad, chips and dip).  The only thing that wasn’t included in the price was drinks, but the concession was open and they also had soda machines.  I loved it all.

I quit playing after 3 games (my arm started to ache).  But the kids played all the way to 1:00 am.  And boy, were they beat!

This is the 3rd time we bowled for New Years.  It’s my favorite New Year celebration so far.  Who doesn’t like to bowl, right?

How was your New Year’s? And what did you do?  I’d love to hear it.

~L

Here are some pics from our weekend.  Four days off!!!!

image

Ty got a pretty blue guitar from his Uncle Gordon 🙂  He’s been practicing everyday.  I think he may really like it.

We went to Uncle Sam’s house for dinner on Christmas day and they had an AMAZING spread.  Just look:

Christmas day, the kids played with their toys.

image

Of all the toys she got, she prefered to play with this box….. kids!

image

Even the big kids got some playtime.

We went to midnight mass with mama again this year.  And it started snowing!  After mass, we ate dinner at mom’s and opened presents.  The presents for the kids from DH and I are not opened until Christmas morning at our house.  It’s a tradition.

DH and I spent most of Friday together shopping for Christmas presents.  It was perfect.  We found something for everyone AND spent some much needed quality time together.  We even ate lunch at Panda Express (the franchise has finally made it out south from the West Coast). And it was yummy 🙂

We also had a White Christmas this year!  It snowed for the first time in 7 or so years here in Tennessee.  It was perfect.

I hope your Christmas was full of love, joy, tons of laughter and lots of good food just like ours.

~L

This past weekend my dear, sweet DH had to work both nights, so we spent our time watching movies and hanging out at home.

Sunday night, though, we attended the annual knitters/train crew Christmas party at Chris’.  Here are some pics:

It was a nice evening with good friends and good food.  We played dirty Santa and took group pictures.  It was so good to see everyone.  I really miss riding the train everyday.  And I miss getting to see my friends on a daily basis even more.  I will try to ride that train again.  But first, I must teach Ty to drive so he can drop me off at the train every morning.  sigh.

How was your weekend?

~L

6:20 am – After hitting the snooze button once (or 4 times), I’m up getting ready. Coffee, check.  Keys, check. Purse, check. Cellphone, check. Zune, check.  Knitting bag, check. shoes, check. Kiss the little ones and out the door I go.

6:56 am – In the car with the oldest kiddo. I drop him off every morning to Jill’s house since school doesn’t start until 8.

 image

7:20 am – In traffic, this particular morning was very foggy.  Every morning I talk to my DH while in traffic.  It makes the drive much more bearable and the day more sweet.

image

8:00 am – Work.  This is my new ergonomic keyboard.  Isn’t she pretty?

12:00 pm – lunch with Herbert and Antoinette in the park across the street.  This is the retro-tastic tile they have in the Arts building where we eat lunch.

2:30 pm – Mail and money run and hangout with my girls upstairs.  This is “Red”  (Legal name Holly).

image

4:35 pm  –  In evening traffic headed home.  That’s what’s locally known as the “”Batman” building.  It is the AT&T offices.  But “Batman” sounds way cooler, no?

5:15 pm – Pick up oldest kid from a friend’s house.

5:30 pm – Home

6:30 pm – Dinner then family time,

cuddling with kids,

Knitting and Glee 🙂

image

9:00 pm – Bedtime for Bubs and Nacho.

10:00 pm – DH leaves for work.

12:00 am – In bed.

Ty participated in this year’s Christmas parade in Mt. Juliet this past Saturday.  He and 9 other football players volunteered to walk and pass out little footballs to all the kids in attendance.  After dropping Ty off at the starting point, Bubba, Nate, Lai and I set up on the side of the road just a few feet from where I parked (a bank parking lot).  It was a great spot too.  The bank was also offering free hot chocolate to the public AND they had a public restroom!  I was very fortunate.  Anyway, here are some pics…

The kids had so much fun and kept thanking me afterwards for taking them.  They are so sweet… The rest of the day was spent shopping with Ty.

On Sunday, we slept in and hung out because it was snowing a little all day.  Ty and I went out to shop for food and some clothes for his banquet.  His football banquet was later on that day at a golf course clubhouse in Donelson (only less than 10 miles from home).  Here are pics from the banquet:

This is Jill, Brannon’s mom.  The very kind soul that takes Ty to school everyday for me.  Love this gal.

image

Jill and her DH Danny,

The banquet ended around 6 and it took us an hour to get home.  We drove separate cars to the place because we had to wait for my Mom to get off work to watch the little ones.  Ugh.  That drive was nerve-wracking for me.  So much so, that my heart starts pounding just thinking about it.  Driving in snow is now on the top of my list of “Most scariest things”…  Oh, please God, let me NOT have to do that again.  Thank you.  Amen.

I did not go to work yesterday for fear of sliding/slipping/crashing to my death.  Ya.  A little dramatic, but it COULD happen!

😛

Whew! What a weekend!

image

image

IHOP with my crew on Wednesday night:)

Friday MJ played Smyrna at Smyrna and lost.  The final score was 37-20.  Our boys put up a good fight and I’m so proud of them.  They were heartbroken though. 😦

Saturday was Bubba and Nate’s games in Brentwood.  I dropped DH, Bubba, and Ty at 8 am to get on the Charter bus for a fancy ride to the Championship.  At 10:30, I dropped Nacho off.  Here are his teamates lined up on the fence waiting for their bus:

image

image

NATE’S PEE-WEE TEAM WON THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP!! It was an exciting game.  They won in the last 4 seconds of the game.  Our little guys were so awesome!  I’m so proud of all of them.  It’s so amazing to me that my little Nacho is a champ for his first year playing football.  We are so happy!

Bubba’s game:

Family and friends were able to make it to Bubba’s game (they were also there to watch Eli play)

Kim, Lori, and Jessica

Kortney, Kallie, and Kate.

Ieti, Eric, and Joe.

Mira and Lai were so creative collecting leaves and using them as pompoms.  So adorable!

image

DH, Bubba and the team lost 33-0.  It was devastating.  😦

There’s always next year.

image

Ty spent the night at Brannon’s house to celebrate B’s birthday.  Ty’s such a goofball!

image

L-R: Shelby (Brannon’s gf) Jill (Brannon’s mom), Ty and Brannon.

Sunday: We spent Sunday relaxing and recooperating.  We ate JITB (and got free shakes!) then watched 2 movies.  I took the kids with me to Wally-world where they played with the toys and the video games while I grocery shopped for the week and DH stayed home to sleep.

How was your weekend?

~L

1. Watched Ty and the team play the first round in the playoffs against McGavock.  We won 56-28.  This was taken right after the game.  Both teams prayed together. 🙂

2. Took Mom to the Greyhound station after the game Friday night.  It was a very good visit with her.  The kids enjoyed having her here and kept refering to her as “the other grandma”.  So cute.

3.  Bubba and Nate were playing their playoff game too.  This one was the final round to Championship.  Their games overlapped, so I went to Nate’s in Goodlettsville with Lai.  It was a nail-biter.  Our little guys played their hearts out and pulled out a win in the last 2 minutes of the game.  Final score 26-19.  Bubba also won his game.   WOOHOOO  All three boys won this weekend!!!!

4. A few of the boys from Bubba’s team spent the night Saturday night.  We took them to the lake for a little bit on Sunday before DH and Coach Sherman had to go to the coach’s meeting.

5. I took the boys home (Tyler watched all 5 boys) and went to Nicole’s baby shower with Lai.  She’s a knitting friend of mine and is due with her first baby (a boy)  December 20.

6.  Got home about the same time as Danny and watched “When In Rome” with the family.  Then gave this guy a haircut.  Boy, did he need it!

I’ll post an after pic when he fixes it.  We were in a rush this morning….

It was cold and cloudy all weekend.  The weather will be warming up some this coming week.  Being out there watching our boys play football in this cold is getting to me.  I’m not made for this type of weather.  brrr.

How was your weekend?

I took the afternoon off yesterday to hang out with these lovely ladies:

HI!!!

All the pictures in this post was taken by and uploaded directly from my cell phone (the EVO!).  Although, when I uploaded them onto this website, they showed up backwards.  First pic last and last pic first.

So this weekend recap will be brought to you backwards 🙂

The grandma’s and Lai after trick-or-treating Sunday night.

The kiddos.  Mom bought the blue gown and embelished it with feathers and tulle, and flower petals.  Mama hooked it up!  Bubba was a Jedi.  Nate was “Karate Kid”.

Ty and Bubba pregame peptalk and equipment check.  It’s so sweet that Tyler is there for his little brother during his games.  What a good big brother.

image

The siblings on Love Circle in Nashville.  I took them for a ride downtown Nashville before Bubba’s game.  There was a long break in between Nate’s game and Bubba’s.  We stopped for a few minutes at Love Circle so they can see the view of downtown.  It’s a prime location for viewing the fireworks during July 4th and New years.  It’s also popular for other things.  Hence the name 😉

image

We spent about an hour after Nate’s game at the Lake where the kids skipped rocks and made up games to pass the time.  Uncle Vita took a nap on a bench, Mom walked, and Mem and I watched the kids play.

The gang watching Nate’s game.  We won!!! Go Nate!  We spent half the time laughing at the 5 and 6 yos runnin around lost.  Mainly Nate.  So cute.

The sad loss to Beech.  (Creepy stalker, Uncle Vita in the back hehehe)….

MJ and Beech were playing for the #1 seed in the district and we lost by 3 points in DOUBLE OVERTIME. ugh.

The ladies.

image

The gang’s all here.  We’re ready to watch some Friday Night Lights!

It was an awesome weekend with family.  My MIL is still here, she will be staying until after Ty’s next game this Friday.  It’s been nice having her here.  Lai’s been sleeping with her and spending lots of time with her.  Mem, Vita, and the girls left Saturday night so Vita can catch his flight back to Vegas early Sunday morning.

*sigh*

It was so hard to get back to the swing of things when you have such an awesome weekend.  Isn’t it?
