As you may have heard, my island, my home, my SAMOA was hit by a devastating earthquake yesterday.  An earthquake that caused a series of tsunamis that demolished homes, destroyed roads, and took loved ones.  I’ve been keeping up with family and friends through facebook and can happily report that my family and friends that still live there are okay.  So far, the official death toll is 111.  There are still dozens missing.  I’ve been numb watching the videos and looking at the pictures of the island.  It’s so sad.

My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones, and/or their homes.  We are praying for peace and a smooth recovery.  To God be the glory!

Woohoo!

Ty’s team is 5-0! We beat Kenwood at our homecoming 42-6.  Bubba’s team beat the Hendersonville Titans (de-throned from the number 2 slot in current standings)!  Good times!

Ty’s now the official camera-man.  I’ve relinquished the job to him since he is now old enough to handle the expensive equipment :-)   Thank God for Ty! (I kinda hated video-taping the games)…

Lloyda and Britney came out, too!

On Sunday, after church, we got to hang out with our family from Clarksville.  Uncle Kris, Aunty Michelle and their beautiful daughter Stacie came down to shop at Opry Mills for a dress for Stacie’s homecoming (she is the Junior Homecoming Queen!)  We stayed there for about an hour just catching up with each other.  It was a nice little visit.

Friday!

Happy dance!

So, we’ve been watching the new show “Glee” and it’s a quirky little show with alot of funny lines and scenarios.  This week’s episode had a football team dance to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” ON THE FIELD!  Hilarious!

Homecoming’s this week, for both Ty and Bubbs.  It should be a good game tonight.  We’re lookin to be 5-0! Woot woot!

Have a great weekend, y’all!

~L

Hi there.

The sun keeps peeking out, but only for a few minutes at a time.  Come out and play, sun, we miss you…

I went to RuSans for lunch today.  A couple of my coworkers had never been and wanted to go see what I have been raving about….

And Pamela.

They really liked the food and I was happy for the sushi and the good company.

Next door to the restaurant used to be a venue for music bands and various plays/theater shows.  Now, (since March) it houses this:

OMG! WHAT?!?!?!?!

I love this place!  I have been visiting their website for YEARS, gathering inspiration for knitwear and cool fashion trends.  So AWESOME!

So.much.pretty.

If I had the money, I would so have my house and my muli decked out in this stuff.  Oh, to dream……..

sigh

Oh, I think I should also mention that they are having a huge sale.  If you’re in the area, go get something pretty for yourself or someone you love.

:-)

Anyhoo, it’s still cloudy and wet here in the south.  There are flash flood warnings everywhere.  I hear the west is having a wicked hot flash.  Just flashing all over, isn’t it?

Well, I’m happy. I’m full from a lunch of sushi and delirious from the discovery of one of my favorite stores EVER!

I hope your day was a good one, too!

~L

So I’ve got the knitting bug again.  I was starting to worry that I would be forever staring at my HUGE yarn stash in my bedroom and NEVER be able to use up all that beautiful yarn!

Over the weekend I found this. It was on Ravelry and I thought of making some of my own.  I didn’t follow the pattern, but really it’s just an i-cord with 3 stitches knitted around and around until the length I liked and bound off.

DSCN1186

I doubled the yarn using both ends of the yarn balls and used two size10.5 double-pointed needles.  The i-cord measured 8 inches after bind-off.

DSCN1187
I haven’t decided how to join the ends, but for now i just tied a knot and braided the tails and wrapped it around and around… Yeah.

DSCN1188

What do you think?

I knitted a couple for Lai (TOO CUTE!) I’ll take pics soon and share with you.

And today’s the first day of FALL!

Happy Fall, y’all!

~L

Happy Monday!

Healing nicely. Thank you Jesus.

This past weekend rained and rained.  It was a very nice weekend regardless.  Ty’s game Friday night was in Hendersonville.  It was a tough one for the boys.  They went into TWO overtimes and the second was delayed 30 minutes because of lightning (only in the south!).  We won! It was so nerve-racking and exciting and arrrrggghhh. Yeah.   I was still a little feverish that night but really wanted to come out and support the team.  The little ones, thankfully were with my mom….

Saturday I stayed home all day, because of the weather.  Nate developed a fever late in the afternoon (he stayed home today from school).  Bubba won his game too.  DH is also under the weather.  (So much for the no-kissing-rule! He still got sick).  sigh….

Anyway, after folding laundry (SIX loads) in front of the TV and cleaning and hanging out, the kids and I turned the TV off and spent some time together.  We brought out our drawing supplies, set up on the dinner table and went at it.  I really enjoy this time with the kids.  Fortunately, they all love to draw too.  It was so sweet.

“Mommy, I was being silly and I colored a blue horse.  THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A BLUE HORSE! hahahaha”

I love it!

Anyway, I doodled a little, but was enjoying watching my kids draw with such intensity and concentration.  It’s so wonderful to me that they love what I love.

On other news:
I started KNITTING again! Or rather, I’ve been actually WANTING to knit again.  I’ve completed a few small items and they are so cute! I’ll share with you later.

Love ya!

~L

I have the flu.

It sucks rocks.

I didn’t go to work Wednesday and Thursday and spent the day napping and sweating.  Not fun.

Anyway, I feel better today.  Not 100%, but definitely better.

So what’s been going on at chez lette?  Well, there’s the always entertaining in-house-kindergarten-extraordinaire-NACHO!  He’s full of stories and jokes.  Last night Ty was kind enough to help him with his homework (he also cooked dinner, washed dishes, and gave Nacho a bath).  I can see Ty smiling the whole time!  I even got Ty to film the conversation Nacho and Gords were having at the dinner table.  Gords and Ty were giggling up a storm.  I wish you could have a chat with this little guy, it’ll make your day.
DSCN1125

There are no big plans for this weekend.  Ty’s game is tonight in Hendersonville, and Bubb’s is tomorrow at 4:00.  The forecast says there’s going to be rain.

What’s new with  you?

~L

Hi. I miss you.

It’s been crazy busy for me.  My work PC decided to quit on me.  The last time I backed up the thing?  2007!

I know. Serves me right.  Learned a valuable lesson.  It won’t happen again.

Anyway, the past weekend was awesome.  Both the boys’ teams beat a couple of good teams.  And both of them played awesomely.  Esp. Bubba.

Also:
- Went thrifting at Goodw*ll and scored some awesome books.
-Checked out a used book store in my area and was slightly disappointed at lack of selection (altho they had a HUGE selection of Romantic Smut books, which I am not into).
-Visited the library and checked out “The Bean Trees” by Barbara Kingsolver.  It’s a wonderful little book.
-Watched more football on TV.  DH’s teams won (49ers and Trojans).
-Watched some of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (TBS had a marathon).

I love this movie!

Knitting:
-Nothing much new to report.  Still slowly knitting on the socks and the scarf.  I’m almost done with the socks.

I hope your week is going great.

And it’s only Tuesday.

Firstly, we had a very relaxing Labor Day.  We slept in and hung out at my mom’s.  We enjoyed some Filipino dishes and played some pool.

Also this past weekend, Ty’s team beat Gallatin 42-35.  It was a very exciting game.

DSCN1105

Lastly, our Nacho made “Star Student of the Week!”  I’m so proud.

Along with all the highs there are the lows.

First, Nacho had an accident at Mom’s on Labor Day.  He was doing what most little boys do, CLIMB things.  He was entertaining himself by climbing all the furniture in Mom’s basement when he slipped and caused a picture frame (unmounted) to fall, shattering the glass, and he landed right onto the pile of glass shards.  He didn’t realize right away what happened and looked shocked.  Then, slowly, like a siren’s gradual bellow, his cry was alarming and quite pitiful.  He had a huge gash on his knee.  It bled alot and was sliced to the bone.  Poor baby.  We bandaged it up as best we could and called his doctor.  She instructed us to watch the wound and if it stopped bleeding that it would be ok for us to care for it at home.  As a precaution, he stayed home from school today, even after the sad little cry he gave when he found out he wasn’t going to school this morning.  He awoke as Bubba was getting ready for school.  He asked. “Where’s Bubba going?”
“He’s going to school.”
“What? I wanna go to school!”
“Honey, Daddy and I want you to stay home so your knee could get better.”
With a pout and tears rimming, he says “But I’m Star Student of the Week.”
I almost cried.  You see, the Star Student gets the whole week in his honor.  He gets a poster all about him mounted on the classroom wall and he gets to “show and tell” 3 of his favorite items.  Along with that, a loved one can come and have lunch with him and tell a story about him.  It’s really quite awesome. Hopefully, he’ll be able to go back after seeing the doctor tomorrow morning :-)

Also, my work computer crashed sometime this past weekend.  When I arrived at the office this morning, I was greeted with a blue error screen.  After numerous tries, I could not get it to start up.  I called IT and set up a service call.  He didn’t come today.  So, I was stuck without a computer and stealing time to check my work email from the “community” computer.  It sucks.

Anyway, it can only get better, right?… The IT-person will come and fix old Betsy or maybe even give me a “new” one.  yeah.  that sounds nice….

I hope your week’s full of joy.

Later
~L

A 3-day weekend is upon us, there will be football (tonight and tomorrow), relaxing, and food.

We have no big plans for the weekend.  Mom offered to cook on Monday.  I think I’ll take her up on her offer :-)

Whatever you do this weekend, please be safe and enjoy every minute.

~L

me

In a storm.  I’m weathering it with prayer and meditation.  Things are starting to look up as I type this.

Tomorrow will be better.

Until then, here’s a little sunshine for you.

Earlier this week, baby girl came home clutching a little hot-pink pillow.  I asked her what she was holding and she said, “Damma made me dis!”

Here’s what her “Damma” made her:

DSCN1093

Yes, she is jumping for joy back there!
Awesome, right?
It’s so sweet.  She hasn’t been without it since her Grandma gave it to her.  It was made ONLY for her, with loving hands.  It’s perfect for her and makes her so happy.  And she sleeps with it too!

She loves her Damma Pillow:

I was surfin the nets yesterday and found this cool website where you can take your photo (or anyone elses’) and place it into heads of old yearbook pictures.  They have a photo for females and males from different eras.  Oh the choices!

It takes your pic:
