Friday night….
Dad and Tofa dropped me off at Maricar’s for a small gathering and to spend the night with Marsh. Tami, Yolanda, Icz, Marsh and I hung out until 3 the next morning. Nikki showed up around 2.
Marsh, Icz, and I got up around noon and went to Chinatown to have lunch, then we went to the airport to pick up Marsh’s eldest son Beav, who was flying in from visiting his dad in Utah (flying home with his mama). Then some shopping at the Outlet Mall. I forgot my camera at Icz’ house, so no pics of that day
We dropped Icz off at home so she could finish making dinner for her hubby and Marsh, Beav and I went to find a garment bag for the wedding dress… Scored one from David’s Bridal (they were closing, and I worked my magics to buy one from them, only a little begging was required!)
We had dinner at Del Taco and they dropped me off at Dad’s. The goodbyes were quick and virtually painless. Just the way I like it. I do hope they visit again next year.
Sunday: Dad, Aunty Doris, Suzanne and lil Gil went to church. It’s a beautiful Catholic church located on the strip, right across the street from the Encore Hotel and Casino. It is a beautiful building (I’ll blog about it later)….
The rest of the day was spent shopping, after a delicious lunch from Carl’s Jr. (There aren’t any in TN). Teriyaki Burger, mmmmmm….
I tried to get a tattoo, but the place was closed.
Next time…
My last night I spent it with Aunty Doris. She’s such a sweet person. Giving, loving, and very kind. She cried letting me know that she will miss me. We ate at Panda Express and hit up Wally World and the 99 cent store (we don’t have this store either). And Dad? He stayed home to console Suzanne, after some drama. I’ll refrain from the details on this part of the trip, since I want to remember the positive.
Alrighty then.
I stayed up all night again, scared that I will miss that first flight out of Vegas. Nikki was kind enough to take me to the airport. Goodbyes with my Dad, Aunty Doris, and lil Gil were short and sweet as well….
All in all, a great trip. My dad will be ok for a while. He and I had a few heart-to-heart talks about his well-being and my concern for him. He’s so far away that I worry so much about him. He tried to reassure me that he will be alive for a long time, but I know better. I just pray that this wasn’t my last time seeing him.
Anyhoo….
This weekend starts the madness that is FOOTBALL. Tonight, Ty has a scrimmage game against Oakland. He will be suited up, but I don’t think he will be getting much play time.
Bubba has a game tomorrow afternoon.
In the morning, I’m planning to go thrifting with Mom. I’ve missed my mama…..
Have a great weekend, friends!

went something like this:
I arrived in Vegas after one stop in Houston. Both flights were crowded. From Nashville, I got stuck between a couple (the husband was huge) and from Houston I sat at the window with 2 meauli ladies next to me jabbering in their southern twang: “Oh MY GARAH!” “Oh no she di-in!” A memorable experience to say the least….
Nikki-doo picked me up and he took me to dine at my first ever DIM SUM!

Yum!
After dinner, Nikki and I went to Maricar’s house to hang with Marsh and Ics. We ended up staying up all night, ending our visit for the night/morning at Denny’s.
Nikki dropped me off at Dad’s at 7 the next morning. We had some toast and coffee then off to shopping at Ross…
There was supposed to be a party at Ics’ house later that night, but plans fell through, so I just hung out with Dad. Dad and I ate here:

Hawaiian BBQ!!!
This is what I ate:
Teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef and MUSUBI! Mmmmm… Musubi….
I stayed up 42 hours that day! I finally crashed at midnight…
Friday:
Indoor Swap Meet!

So much to look at!
Bought lots of goodies…
Part 2 coming up…
Good night my lovelies!

Jet-lagging, but exhausted in a good way. I got to hang out with my dad and some friends. I’ll post more details later. Here are some highlight pics until then:

It was an awesome visit.
Be back soon.

Tomorrow I will be flying to Las Vegas. I’ll be gone for 6 days. It’s not a vacation, per se, I’m going to check on Dad and make sure he is ok. Tofa (his baby-mama) called me when I was in Myrtle Beach July 4th and informed me of the latest developments. Apparently he suffered another stroke (his third) and refused to go to the hospital. I guess he researched some home remedies for this and sequestered Aunty Doris and Susan to doing the massages for him. He cannot talk, nor walk, but insists via email that he is ok. Dad, YOU ARE NOT OK. So, my main mission is to get him to a doctor. Whether by force or trickery. No matter the cost. He is quite stubborn.
Anyway, I’ll try to post from there. Please pray for him and for traveling mercies for me (I’ve been really nervous about flying for this trip.)
Last night, I made a special dinner and baked brownies for Bubba’s birthday.
Pics:

It’s his last year in the single digits. Sigh….

Our Gabriel was born July 20, 2000. Our only baby born in California. He was a whooping 8 lbs. 15 oz. My largest baby. When he was born, he did not cry, and his eyes were open and bright. He didn’t like to be swaddled and stretched his legs often (liking the space he finally had). Such a sweet baby, easy to please and smiling always.

Everyone, especially Ty’s friends loved Bubba. They played with him and let him tag along with them when they played together. Bubba is the life of the party.

At daycare, he would be the last one at the table. All the other children are off and playing while Bubba sat and enjoyed every morsel until his plate was clean. Often times, he would fall asleep in his chair holding his spoon or a bite of food.

Bubba had his own special language. One that only Ty can translate.

Bubba was not shy. He was always friendly and smiling.

He has grown to love football. His first year was hard for him. It was the first year of school and football, a difficult adjustment for anyone.

My little g.

Clumsy or just active? Maybe both.

He was missing his front teeth for a long time (longer than normal). But he was happy when they finally came in….

Our little dancing Filipino (the only one so far)

Happy, Happy 9th, my sweet Bubba!
love,
Mommy
Yesterday morning, I awoke with a stomach ache. Nothing unbearable, just a soreness in my gut. So I went to work, thinking nothing of it really. Around 10:30, after eating some watermelon slices and a breakfast that consisted of coffee. My stomach started cramping. For the next 3-4 hours I was immobilized by pain. They came in waves, cramping my stomach muscles like contractions during labor. And there was no relief. I tried to adjust myself any and every way on the chair and nothing made it better. Standing was out of the question and talking was to a few syllables. DH and Ty were in the area for Ty’s appointment, so they came to my office with some lunch. I couldn’t move, couldn’t eat. I was moaning and groaning and wishing for something, anything to come out. Then I started to sweat. And sweat. And sweat. Even the inside of my mouth was sweating. It was very strange.
Anyway, I left work with DH and Ty at noon. I spent 2 hours in the walk-in clinic. There I received a shot for the pain and they ran a blood and urine test. In the end, I think it was a stomach virus. At first I thought it was food poisoning, since it came on so quickly and so violently. But a text from Kris last night confirmed that she and a couple of others on the train were sick with stomach issues this week too. It’s the ”train flu”. Haha.
Today, I feel much better.
And some GREAT news! Ty got the “all-clear” from the doctor yesterday! He can suit up and play football. Yipee! We are so happy. The doctor was impressed at his recovery. He originally expected a recovery time of at least a year. Today makes FIVE months since his surgery. That’s the Samoan blood. They are made like tanks!
Reading:

I can’t put this one down. I started it yesterday afternoon when Gords brought it home from the library. By bed time, I was at page 167.
This weekend we will be celebrating Bubba’s 9th birthday. We are giving him full reign of tomorrow’s activities. Early tomorrow, at about 6 am, my mom and I will tackle my yard. Weeding and cleaning up the garden. It has to be done.
Have a great weekend!

at my current project OTN (On The Needles):

Excuse the crappy pic. I took this with my cell phone camera.
Underneath that pretty ball of yarn is the chart I am following. This is my first attempt at knitting from a chart and after an initial panic-attack, all seems well. I had a few bumps along the way, but I am more than half-way through the whole pattern and am really pleased with it so far.
Back to knitting, folks!

*Update:
Better camera shots:

This past weekend Folole and Neil coordinated a get-together with all the polynesian people we know in our area. We ate a lot and talked (and laughed) well into the night. Oh, and there was siva practice….

And our kids had a blast playing with other kids (who weren’t so fragile).

We stayed at Lole’s house until past midnight and drove home exhausted.
Good times.
Monday, Monday….
I’m pooped. We had a great weekend. I’ll tell you about it later (I haven’t uploaded my pics yet.)
But here are some random pics …

Hello friend.
I wanted to come by and show you something (Hi Regan!)

This was in 1997.
DH misses his brothers
They’re good to each other and I hope my boys will have the same love for each other the way these three do. It really is a beautiful thing.

Plans for the weekend:
-Hang out in Spring Hill with some family.
-Go to the pool.
-Drop Ty off at Charlie and Kara’s for a sleep-over.
Hopefully, I can squeeze in knitting and some reading.
Have a great weekend!

Today marks the one year anniversary of my Lola’s (grandma) passing. In honor of her, I lit a candle at work. Mom had a candle burning at her house, too. It is customary to honor the one year anniversary of a loved one’s passing with a gathering. Since we cannot be there (in the Philippines) we honor our way. So my little candle has reminded me of how special I was to have a Lola like her. She was so full of life and I miss her so.

I love you Lola.
On a lighter note:
Today is also my BIL’s birthday, AND he shares his birthday with his oldest son, Nehemiah.

Gabe with Ty last year in Vegas.

Sweet little Nehemiah
Happy Birthday Gabe and Miah! Enjoy your day.

It’s been 3+ days since returning from vacation. I haven’t unpacked, I haven’t cleaned much, and I only managed to do one load of laundry. I’m BEAT! I guess all the fun takes a while to leave my body. hahaha.
I’ve been trying hard to get back into somewhat of a schedule. Up at 5:40 and out the door at 6:00, drop off the man-child at football practice, go back home and get ready for work, then out again at 7:35 to catch my train.
Then work, work, work.
Home by 5:50.
Dinner and some family time, then bed at 11:00 ish (the first two nights were after midnight)
It’s been hard to get used to a schedule again. All this, for a week of vacation. sigh.
Anyway, after dinner and on the train, I’ve been indulging on some reading. I finished “Water for Elephants” and passed it on to Gordon (it’s such a good read that I finished it in less than two days!). Gords is loving it, too. And while we were in SC, I picked this up.

It’s been all the rage, (as if you didn’t notice), and I decided to see what the fuss is about. I’m a little late to the party, but I’m here!
I’m almost done, so I’ll save my review of this one until I finish…
Knitting:
Cast on for another shawl.
Finished another pair of socks.
I’m really still not feeling it right now. It’s hot outside.
Heat + knitting = knitting slump!
Happy Hump day!

It was an awesome vacation for us.
Everyone got a tan (and a little sunburn), got fed really well (thanks to Uncle Will), and enjoyed lots of time together as a family. I can’t wait for our next vacation.
Thank you Uncle Will and Aunty Mem for letting us crash at your crib and hanging out with us.

Tired, but happy.
I’ve missed you. Did you miss me?
I’m still going through all the pictures and weeding out the good ones and such. It was a great vacation! Myrtle Beach was AMAZING! I have to gather myself before sharing. My mind’s cluttered with things I have to do, things I have to reorganize and blah blah blah.
Here are some pics of our trip:

I’ll be back later with more.
