Nikon didn’t pick me. *sigh*
120 finalists were announced mid-day yesterday and voting is up now. I looked at each page looking for any of my pics. I looked and looked. 5 times in fact. Nothing.
I was so depressed, I didn’t even vote. blah.
I really wanted that camera. I REALLY did.
I guess I’ll just have to buy one myself. Shucks.
And you know what the worst part is? There were photos there that weren’t that good. Not even a little bit. Who picked those?
Ok, granted, mine weren’t the best either, but I know that a couple of mine were definitely better than a few of those…. I mean, really.
Ok, I’ll stop whining now.
On a lighter note, we leave tonight for our vacation! YAY!
I might not be blogging for the duration of the vacay, but for the sake of sakes, let’s just say that I’ll try to…. I’m not promising anything, I will be busy not being busy. And staying far away from the computer as possible. Well, I might “myspace” though. hehehe

I feel much better today. I got to bed earlier than usual (11:00) and I feel well-rested. But (yes, there’s a BUT) the party scheduled for this weekend in SF, the reason for the trip, was cancelled. CANCELLED! We have planned to take this trip for months now and well, it was just flushed down the toilet in a few minutes. Thanks! Hubby and I are trying to come up with an alternate agenda. Where to go, what to do? I hope we can still fly out to California, since we have family there waiting for us. I’m crossing my fingers….

Anyway, I entered a photo contest on Nikon’s website. There will be 60 winners. All of whom will win the new Nikon D60. You’ve probably seen it. They have a commercial running on TV with Ashton Coo*tch*er taking pics at a wedding. Ya know? Well, I entered 17 photos on their website and hopefully one of them makes it to the voting process, which will be announced tomorrow. Here are some of the shots I entered:

I’ll keep you posted…

Oh, here’s a cute pic of the little one in the car after I picked her up on Friday from Grandma’s…

Already slackin on this blog. *Sigh*.
I suck. I know. I suck.
Whatever…

Today I am pooped. Dog-Tired! Last night, on the spur of the moment, my hubby decided to treat the boys to HULK. Mind you, this was at 8 pm on a Sunday night, after getting home from 4 hours (FOUR!) of swimming at the Y. (Yes, again) They were excited and I figured I’d be alright, as long as I got to bed at a decent time tonight. Man, what was I thinking? I’m not as young as I used to be. DUH! Well, we had a blast and the movie was a HIT. Especially with the boys. Bubb would not stop talking on the way home, even Nacho piped in on all the talk. It makes me smile to see them so excited. It was worth it. I hit the snooze button 5 times this morning, getting up waaaay too late. It’s ok, the boss is never in until the afternoon, if at all and the little rats are not in today…. heeeeee!

Did I mention we are going to SF this weekend. We will be gone June 27th to July 7th. I C.A.N.N.O.T. WAIT! My mind has been on vacation now for a week, just waiting for the body to catch up…. I so need this break/getaway. So does DH. It’ll be so awesome. We haven’t been in SF for almost 7 years. The two littlest have never been and I can’t wait to have them meet the family out there.

Ugghhh, I’m tired.
I think I’ll sneak in a little power nap while I’m alone….

So yesterday was Father’s Day. I had to work Saturday and spent an hour after work (2:30-3:30) in the park with a group of knitters for WWKIP, world wide knit in public day. There were about 8 other women there under a small tent and an umbrella. It was kinda too hot for knitting but a nice little gathering for like-minded people. I felt a little out of place since I got the impression that most of them knew each other prior to the meeting. Anyway, I started a new sock while there and haven’t felt the urge to continue working on it. I got about 3 inches done on it…
After that, I was planning on taking the kids to a surprise party for a wounded soldier coming home from Iraq. He was hurt in an attack and was flown to Germany for surgery to help save his life. He underwent numerous surgeries and was not expected to survive. He’s a fighter. Anyway, the party started at 4:00 and we didn’t make it. We just followed Mike and Sose to their house to hang out with them until my hubby got off work.
Hubby arrived after 7:00 that evening and we hung out for a couple of hours before heading home…
The next morning, Sunday, I got up and made breakfast for everyone. I gathered the kids, who wrote sweet little letters for their Dad and went up to wake up the honoree. He was delighted. He opened the 2 presents I had bought during lunch break on Thursday, and was like a kid in a candy store. I love giving him presents. It’s like he isn’t used to getting them. I guess he didn’t, growing up in a not-so-privileged home. It warms my heart to see such gratitude and joy… Anyway, we ate breakfast together then relaxed, played Scattergories, listened to some music. Then decided to go to the pool. We went to the Y again and I noticed more lifeguards on duty. I counted 10. They are really beefing up the staff since the incident last weekend… It was awesome and a great deal of fun was had by all. Unfortunately, my camera’s acting up. I took about 50 pics this weekend and none are in my memory card! Ugh! I don’t know what’s wrong with it. This sucks. My camera is like a third arm. Ask anyone who knows me. They’ll tell you. I feel handicapped without it. That thing goes everywhere with me. EVERYWHERE. And now, it is on the fritz, broke, jacked-up, not cooperating…. *blah*
*crying like a baby*

I am at work right now juggling this post and phone calls (Ty, my mom, patrons, our PR person). I feel like a rope in a tugofwar. I need to go now. I’ll post again later. Hopefully with some pics because by some miracle my camera starts working again. Let’s cross our fingers.

Oh, I got a haircut.
I just wanted to share…

This past weekend was full. I have always looked forward to and cherished my weekends because of the fact that I have to work 40 hours a week. Who decided that in order to get health insurance you must work 40 hours a week? Who says that a work week is 40 hours long? That’s most of my waking hours! You figure, you are awake from 6 ish to 11 ish (I am anyway) and from 7 ish to 5 ish I am at work, getting ready for work, driving to work, driving from work, and winding down from work. That leaves me, what, 6 minutes for me? Maybe? But I digress. Saturday I volunteered for some overtime, because whatwithall the gas prices and all, I needed to do something to help supplement the income. My hubby had to work too. Of course I was laden with guilt that my day off I was not spending QT with the family. But, thankfully my little sister took the kids to play with cousins in their small backyard “pool” and the kids were happy for the change. Sunday, we went to church. Instead of spending time cooking the Sunday lunch, we ate out then went home to change to go to the pool at our local Y. When we arrived there, we found a shady spot under one of the huge umbrellas they have out there. I had just sat down when a lifeguard told us that we must move to another spot because the police needed to investigate the area. HUH? Ok, we moved. Shortly after that, everyone got kicked out of the “big” pool. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the kiddie pool and play pool (both are no deeper than a foot). There were camera crews and 2-3 police officers walking around and looking at the slide at the “big” pool and interviewing lifeguards and pool visitors. Not us tho’. I guess we had just missed the hula-baloo when we arrived. I didn’t find out what was going on until hours later, I had overheard a couple of women recounting the events of the afternoon that caused all the rucus. Apparently a child drowned in the “big” pool. This is the fifth drowning in the state of Tennessee in a little over a week. Read the article here: http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080608/NEWS01/80608014/1006

Anyway, please watch your children. Play hard, but play safe.
Have a great summer.

Hi.

Just wanted to drop in and show you a picture that I found. It made my day. My momma and my baby girl. My two most favoritest females in the whole universe! *smile*

It’s hot out. 92 and humid. I am so grateful I work in an office. Temperature controlled climate! woot woot!
I have been meaning to take pics of my knitting, but Master P won out again.
I’ll get to it.
I am looking forward to this weekend. Granted, I have to work Saturday, but it is offset by my once-a-month trip to Goodwill with my mom and brother for some good ole thriftin’. See, I do my part.
I’ll try to take some pics of our haul…
Oh, btw Goodwill in our area does 50% off everything on the first Saturday of every month. You might want to check out your area and support Goodwill and their cause and possibly find something your wittle-bitty heart has always wanted….
peace
